A delightful bay on the edge of Plymouth. The beach has good facilities and is in a lovely setting. There is a marine center (tel: 01752 862538) , a church and a cafe near the beach The bay has a sandy bottom with extensive rocky reefs made of slate. The rocks are covered with Kelp and there are numerous gullies overhangs and crevices. As you look out to sea to the left of the beach is "church ledge" and to the right is the massive "Wembury ledge". The ledge is sheltered by "The Great Mew Stone" This is a great site for beginners as the maximum depth is around 11m and the site is sheltered.
