| Directions and Parking Details |
| From the centre of Exmouth follow the signs for Budleigh Salterton. At "Liverton Cross" take the right turn for "Sandy Bay" and "The World of Country Life". Follow the road past the "Clinton Arms" and "Thyme Cottage", and go up to the entrance of the caravan site. There is normally a small charge to go into the site and park. The gatekeeper will give you directions down through the campsite to the large carpark overlooking the beach. The slipway is very steep and so it is not advisable to drive anything other than a 4x4 vehicle down to the beach as it will probably get stuck! |
| Site Description |
|
As the name suggests this is a sandy beach - which is
unusual for this part of the coast - most of the beaches are pebbles. If
you dive around the rocks on the left hand side of the beach you should
come across a small wreck in about 3m of water. Even if you go out some
way you will not get water that is much more than 3m deep - this is a very
sheltered site and is ideal for training dives. It is a long walk but
there is a nice reef at the right hand end of the beach. Great facilities available at the holiday camp although there is a charge to use them. The beach is very pleasant and there is a pub and toilets right at the top of the slipway Until recently it was possible to take a cliff path down to Otter Cove - Due to a landslip it is no longer accessible |
